Positional Control Workshop
In a real confrontation, control is more than strength — it is position, pressure, mobility, awareness, and decision-making.
This hands-on workshop will focus on the principles of positional control through the lens of Effective Fitness Combatives, helping students understand how to gain, maintain, and improve position while staying mobile and aware of the bigger picture.
Participants will work through practical drills that develop the ability to control an opponent’s movement, win dominant angles, manage distance, protect themselves from strikes, and create opportunities to disengage, escape, or transition to a better position.
This is not sport-based grappling for points. This is principle-based control for real-world self-defense, law enforcement, security, and personal protection situations where awareness, mobility, and decisive action matter.
Students will learn how to:
- Use body position to reduce the threat’s ability to strike or move
- Maintain mobility while controlling another person
- Win better angles instead of relying on strength
- Manage distance in standing, clinch, wall, and ground positions
- Recognize when to control, disengage, or transition
- Stay aware of surroundings, additional threats, and escape options
The goal of this workshop is simple: help you become more effective at controlling position while still thinking, moving, and making good decisions under pressure.
Control the position. Maintain your mobility. Stay aware.
